9th ANNUAL ACCORD FREEDOM TRAIL LUNCHEON

The 9th Annual ACCORD Freedom Trail Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Historic Casa Monica Resort & Spa: 95 Cordova St., St. Augustine, Florida. Senator Geraldine Thompson

Senator Thompson is an American politician who currently serves as a member of the Florida State Senate from the 15th district.  As chair of the African American History Museum Task Force, Thompson is committed to “tell the unvarnished truth” about the painful past of African Americans in Florida.

Dr. Cynthia Mitchell Clarke

At age 14, Dr. Cynthia Mitchel Clarke participated in the historic Wade-Ins aimed to desegregate St. Augustine beaches, alongside Dr. Dorothy Cotton. During these peaceful demonstrations, she was attacked and her nose was broken by Segregationists at the "Whites' Only" St. Augustine Beach.

 

Crystal Hayling

Daughter of the Late Dr. Robert B. & Athea Hayling. Crystal while in her Mother's womb, narrowly escaped death when their home was shot up by the KKK, killing their family dog. Crystal is a graduate of Yale University and Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.

Young is a politician, diplomat, humanitarian, and ordained minister from Georgia who has served as a Congressman from the 5th district, United States Ambassador to the United Nations, and Mayor of Atlanta. He served as President of the National Council of Churches USA, and was a supporter and friend of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

ACCORD CIVIL RIGHTS MUSEUM

The ACCORD CIvil Rights Museum will be open at 10:00am Tuesday through Friday. Walk-ins are welcome to visit. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Tours can be scheduled by appointment by contacting Liz at (904) 347-1382.

The ACCORD Civil Rights Museum houses displays, articles, stories, and artifacts all set up to share the stories of the Unsung “heroes” and “sheroes” of the local 1960s Civil Rights Movement.  We offer daily film viewings of civil rights documentaries and vintage clips. Visitors can watch clips from the breathtaking documentaries "Crossing in St. Augustine" by Ambassador Andrew Young, and "Dare Not Walk Alone," by Jeremy Dean. Full film viewings will last approximately one to two hours.

ACCORD FREEDOM TRAIL TOURS

ACCORD Freedom Trail Tours with David Nolan as Narrator on the Old Town Trolley Bus will be conducted throughout the year. Tours are from 9;00AM - 11:00AM, embarking and disembarking from the WIllie Galimore Community Center: 399 Riberia St., St. Augustine, Florida. DATES:
